I figured I would continue along with the introductions... =)

My name is Alissa, I am 25 and I work as a Technical Writer. I am a recent newlywed, Misha and I got married in February of this year, but we've been together for about four years now. =) He is an EMT working for a local ambulance company that covers all of Orange County and some of LA. Misha is working on getting into Nursing right now.

About me
Right now I'm right in the middle of switching jobs, so I'm going from a software company to a Bio-medical company. I'll be writing documentation for some of the lab equipment/machines that are used in hospitals and research.

We're looking to purchase a home (condo, since that is all that is affordable in California) in the next year. Kids are in the distant future (we want him to get into and through nursing school first) but we're looking at expanding our family and getting two corgi puppies soon. =)

Biggest Struggles with Partner Working in Healthcare
Probably the biggest struggle for me is wanting to spend time with my new husband, between his long hours and how exhausted he is when he finally does get off of work. Thankfully he works 7am to 7pm so no nights, but he regularly gets of 2+ hours late. I've been having a real hard time lately with how his company treats him, and its really hard for me to deal with and watch. He worked for a great company while we were in college, but we've moved since then and his current company really abuses their employees. My light at the end of the tunnel is that once he does finally get his nursing degree he will no longer be working for them. I can just hope that he gets into a good position that respects him, and that once we start a family he can be there more often.

Thats about all I can think of for now. Any questions, just ask. =)

I relate to you about the hours ... Colin (my SO) is also trying to get into Nursing school. I will be glad when he gets there, hours seem much more flexible (not to mention pay is much better) :)

I grew up in Orange County, but am not too familiar with any of the EMS stuff down there. Hopefully Colin will be able to give some insight about hours etc. I'm sure that's really frustrating on both of your parts.

I'm glad you joined. Feel free to post away whenever you need to talk :)
